PUBLIC BRAVES COLD TO HONOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AT BLUE LIGHTS CEREMONY

On a cold and windy evening in Prescott, local citizens showed up on the Courthouse Plaza January 9th to honor law enforcement at the annual Blue Lights ceremony. Several leaders of law enforcement in Yavapai county told those in attendance that the great support from citizens in this county for the men and women who protect them daily is gratifying and makes the job a lot more rewarding as well.

FRANK ALVAREZ RETIRES AFTER MORE THAN A QUARTER CENTURY OF SERVICE

After more than 26 years of service to the people of Yavapai county, YCSO Deputy Frank Alvarez retired from the agency. In a ceremony on January 2nd, Alvarez said he made the right career choice in 1998 when he was hired as a Detention Officer, and he thanked YCSO for "being there for me in the hard times, as well as the good times. I worked for and with great people."

RECENT TRI-CITY DUI TASK FORCE HOSTED BY YCSO

YCSO hosted a recent Tri-City DUI Task Force patrol saturation unit, which resulted in more than a dozen citations and four misdemeanor arrests, including three for drugs.
The Task Force patrol unit was funded by a grant from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety, aimed at reducing the incidences of alcohol and drug-related fatalities and injuries through enforcement and education.

YCSO PROMOTES MACKENZIE AMBROSE TO DETENTION SUPPORT SPECIALIST

A former YCSO detention officer has been promoted to Detention Support Specialist for Court Services. Mackenzie Ambrose started with YCSO as a D.O. in 2020 and a year later she received a lifesaving award. Detention Services Commander Brent Kimbriel, at the promotion ceremony, said this position is "part of the lifeblood of the agency".

YCSO PROMOTES TWO DEPUTIES TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT

Deputies Matt Barton and Darrell McClintock are now YCSO Sergeants after a promotion ceremony December 16th. Barton started as a Detention Officer in 2011 and McClintock was a lateral transfer from another agency in 2022. Sheriff David Rhodes said he appreciates the deputies stepping up into leadership roles and stressed that YCSO is always looking to promote from within the agency.
