Yavapai County Mounted Sheriff's Posse
The Posse founded was founded in 1941 has served Yavapai County in many ways through the years. Originally it supplemented a manpower shortage in the Sheriff's Department during World War II and later became a basic search and rescue unit.
Through they are rarely called out for search and rescue missions any longer, they have evolved to focus on raising scholarship for deserving students in Yavapai County and on youth outreach programs, including fundraisers such as the Nebeker Bronze Statute, May Roping, Scholar for Sollars Dinner and August Posse Golf Tournament.
As of 2023 there are 39 members of the Posse.
