YCSO CONTINUES EFFORT TO SAVE RESIDENTS FROM BECOMING SCAM VICTIMS

At presentations in Ash Fork and Black Canyon City, YCSO Fraud Investigator Ron Norfleet cautioned residents about several ongoing scams which have cost folks hundreds of thousands of dollars. His main advice: do not answer callers you don't recognize, hang up immediately when you know it's a scam, never click on links in e mails and text messages, and don't let scammers play on your emotions.

YCSO GREETS HUNDREDS AT THE RIMROCK/LAKE MONTEZUMA TRUNK OR TREAT

Hundreds of folks turned out on Halloween for a Trunk or Treat at Rollins Park in Rimrock/Lake Montezuma in the Verde Valley, and YCSO enjoyed interacting with kids and adults alike. VIPs from our agency handed out candy, stickers and kid-sized trooper hats to dozens of youngsters at the event. We appreciate all of the kind words of support and thanks from area residents.

YCSO SPENDS THE AFTERNOON AT ASH FORK SCHOOL INTERACTING WITH THE KIDS

YCSO celebrity Deputy Do Right led the way October 24th as the agency was invited to interact with the students at Ash Fork School. Do Right handed out 'swag', exchanged high-fives, and even signed autographs for the youngsters in K-5. Two YCSO uniformed personnel spoke to an assembly for grades 6-8 on the topic of bullying, stressing the need to quickly report it to a trusted adult.

AZ ATTORNEY GENERAL REINFORCES EFFORTS TO STOP SCAMS AT PRESCOTT EVENT

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes returned to her native Prescott October 22nd to reinforce the message that all residents need to be aware of current scams and frauds. AG Mayes commended YCSO for its presentations all over the county each year warning citizens about how scammers operate so that they do not fall victim and lose thousands of dollars to several ongoing fraud schemes.

YCSO DEPUTY HELPS IN THE APPREHENSION OF TRAIN BURGLARY SUSPECTS

Early in the morning on October 19th, YCSO received a report of a burglary in progress involving a parked BNSF train near Seligman. A deputy in the area responded and wound up following several suspect vehicles on I-40 all the way to Kingman, where assisting DPS officers were finally able to stop two of the vehicles, including the main suspect box truck, and wound up taking two men into custody.

LOCAL GROUP MAKES LARGE DONATION TO YCSO

Sips and Cigars, a local group started by a former law enforcement officer, generously donated nearly $17,000 to YCSO from a charity golf tournament held at Talking Rock in September. Detta Taylor, who along with her late husband, Jerry, served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, said this was the third year the First Responders Golf Tounament was conducted to benefit YCSO and the WVFD.
