Two more dedicated YCSO personnel were the focus of an August 8th promotion ceremony before a large gathering of family, friends, and co-workers.

Steve Warburton is now a lieutenant and Zebadiah Dickinson a sergeant after being sworn in by Sheriff David Rhodes, who told the gathering, "This is a big deal, and we publicly celebrate and honor the promotions within our agency." The Sheriff said the men had gone through a formidable testing process, and he told them, "I know you will take it on and give your full effort in your new positions just as you have done since you started here."

Lt Warburton is a 12-year YCSO veteran who has served in the Narcotics Task Force K-9 unit, was a Criminal Investigations detective, served as a Forest Patrol Sergeant, and spent eight years on the SWAT team. A fellow SWAT member told the gathering, "He leaves some big shoes to fill." Lt Warburton received a Medal of Merit award in 2019 for the rescue of law enforcement personnel in the presence of gunfire. He told the group, "I am who I am because of all the people in this agency. You all have a part in this."

Sgt Dickinson has been with YCSO for eight years, including time with the Narcotics Task Force and the SWAT team. He received a Sheriff's Letter of Commendation in 2019 for rescuing citizens during flooding. Dickinson's father, speaking via Zoom from Alaska, was emotional when he told the gathering, "He has carried himself so strong, he is so assertive and compassionate, and I know he has been a total asset to YCSO. Both of these men are the future of the agency." Sgt Dickinson told the group, "I never wanted to work anywhere else. I want to thank my family for their support and their adaptability to an ever-changing schedule."
